MELISSA BARRETT

In the first grade, after winning a ribbon for “Giraffe”, Melissa Barrett was hooked.
Drawing and painting her way through high school, she received a BFA from the University of Kansas in visual communication and photography.

Then real life happened. She moved to Denver in 1982 and painting was put on hold for many years while working in graphics and drafting, as a technical illustrator and then raising two children and teaching art periodically. Picking up the brushes again she has resumed watercolor painting and began to paint in oils.

Currently, Melissa paints in her home studio, at the Art Students League and with new friends and fellow artists, the Painters Five group. She has recently started to participate in juried shows in the Denver area. A member of the Art Students League, The Art Group and a signature member with the Colorado Watercolor Society, Melissa is picking up where she left off a "few" years ago.
